Yup. The beast. This was the most difficult piece up to date that I have refinished.
I almost didn't take a before picture. In fact, the drawers aren't even there in this pic. They came with it, I had just taken them out at the time.
So, this armoire was part of a huge set. 2 nightstands, headboard, mirror and a 9 drawer dresser. The armoire seriously took me forever. I had to put at least 10-15 hrs into this beast.
After removing all the hardware, I started with chalk paint after a light sanding.
The above pics are after 2-3 coats of chalk paint. I debated on whether to paint the inside at this point. I had already easily 5-6 hours into it BEFORE even touching the inside. After a "online facebook survey" I decided to paint the inside.
I took off the back so I could reach inside from both sides. I first used chalk paint, then spray paint, then more spray paint, then a few coats of latex paint. I also finish EVERYTHING I do with a wax to protect it.
I don't regret painting the inside. The back is actually not on at this point, I just put a large white canvas behind it for the picture. The person who bought this, decided she wanted material over the backing.
Finished product. BEAUTIFUL. I REALLY debated on keeping this but I am glad it was a very good friend bought the set.
