I decided to do it. A blog. I get mad at myself every time I am looking for before and after pics of the furniture that I love to flip. Luckily, I don't have the house to keep all the furniture I've refinished so I have to sell it. :) Due to selling it though, I need to keep a better record of the stuff I've done. Otherwise I forget about it!
All u crafty ppl out there know that if you don't take pics, you forget what you have done. I personally, take compete ownership if what I do. I don't want to sell something that is not completely functioning and beautiful. I love taking something that someone would want to throw out or sell for a "steal," then give it some love, turning it into something that someone would love to have as a focal point.
Now, don't be confused, my house doesn't reflect by any means the abilities I have. Ha ha. My dresser and nightstands are an ugly brown, laminate/pressed particle pieces that every time I look at them, I picture what I can do to it. I yearn to flip it in the near future. My husband thinks it isn't worth the time but he has said that before on some of my project and then is amazed with what they look like. Thankfully he is SUPER supportive of me wanting to do this.
I also cannot take complete credit on everything. I often will text my sisters to get their opinion on color, etc. I have also turned a lot of free time I have into Pinterest time. No use reinventing the wheel. There are a lot of beautiful ideas on there and I am not looking to make amazing things that people have never seen before. Those things are often hard to sell. I am completely fine with being a copycat if it turns into something that people will love.
Now, for my struggle: Ideally, I would flip furniture and sell it to people who normally wouldn't be able to afford a gorgeous piece. However, because of the time and money it takes away from my family, I have to, as my husband puts it, "be fair to my time." I would be happy to not lose money doing this but it is nice to make a little too, so I can give back to my family, for the time away from them. I usually use the money to buy things for the kids. Either clothes, toys or hopefully a future vacation.
Anyway, please let me know your thoughts, comments etc and I hope you enjoy this mommy's flippin' furniture blog. :)
